Text messages
How you opt in, and how you stop.
Updated September 15, 2026. This page shows every way a person can agree to receive text messages from Spanstead Works, the exact wording shown at the moment they agree, and what it takes to stop. It is public so that anyone can check it without an account — including a mobile carrier reviewing our messaging registration.
1. Booking a demo
Open to anyone at spanstead.com/demo. The booking form asks for a name, work email and company name. A phone number is optional, and the demo itself is a screen share that works entirely by email without one.
Where a number is given, a single checkbox labelled Text me about this demo appears. It is unchecked by default, it stays disabled until a number has actually been entered, and clearing the number afterwards withdraws the consent with it. Booking the demo does not require it. This is the wording shown at the checkbox:
Optional SMS about this demo only. Confirmations, reminders and scheduling changes; frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Not required to book.
Our Privacy Policy and Terms are linked in that same sentence, beside the box.
2. Message preferences in your customer portal
For people who are customers of a business that runs on Spanstead Works. The opt-in lives on the Messages tab of the customer portal, which is one of the two items in the portal's own navigation and stays there whether or not any work is open. The portal is behind a customer login — hence the screenshots below.
Service updates and review requests are two separate opt-ins, each with its own unchecked checkbox and its own disclosure shown directly above it. Neither is ticked in advance, neither is bundled with email consent, and agreeing to one is never treated as agreeing to the other. The wording for service updates:
By opting in, you expressly agree to recurring transactional texts from [Business Name] about appointments, estimates, invoices, and account activity. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe. Reply HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
And for review requests:
By opting in, you expressly agree to receive occasional one-to-one text messages from [Business Name] asking you to review completed services. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe. Reply HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
[Business Name] is the business you hired, whose name also begins every message they send you.
The same disclosures in Spanish
Messages are sent in the language on the recipient's own record, so the disclosure is shown in that language too. These are the Spanish versions of the two above:
What we send
- Appointment confirmations and reminders
- Notice that an estimate is ready, or is about to expire
- Invoice due and overdue reminders
- Change order approval requests
- A request to review work once it is finished
- Demo confirmations, reminders and scheduling changes, if you booked a demo
Message frequency varies with the work you have booked. Message and data rates may apply. We do not send promotional offers, advertising, or anyone else's content.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT all work the same way. Reply START or UNSTOP to begin receiving them again, and HELP or INFO for help. Customers can also switch off either category, or all texts, from the same preferences screen they opted in on.
What we record
Every opt-in is stored with the time it was given, the phone number it was given for, where it came from, and the exact version and text of the disclosure that was on screen at the time. That record is what lets us show, later, precisely what was agreed to and when.
What we never do
No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party, for any purpose. The Privacy Policy says the same thing and governs the rest of what we collect.
